A focused practice
The “what ifs.” The checking. The thoughts you wish you could switch off. When anxiety starts shaping your days, it can help to talk with someone who understands what you’re going through.
Unwanted thoughts, checking, mental rituals and the search for certainty can leave you feeling stuck. We can explore what keeps the cycle going and practice different ways to respond.
If worries about your health keep pulling you back into checking, searching or seeking reassurance, we can work on how you respond to that worry and live with uncertainty.
When overthinking, panic or avoidance begins limiting your life, we’ll work on practical ways to respond and take steps toward the things that matter to you.
Meet Jen
My goal is simple: to help you feel comfortable and to help you feel better.
I’ve been a therapist for more than ten years, with a decade focused on anxiety and related concerns. I bring that experience to understanding what keeps you stuck and finding practical ways to help.
I also understand anxiety through personal experience. Alongside my clinical training, that helps me appreciate how exhausting it can be, even when things look fine from the outside.
You can expect a down to earth, judgment-free conversation, clear communication and room for humour. This is my own practice, and you’ll work directly with me from our first conversation onward. There’s time to build trust, get to know you and find a way of working that fits your needs.
Let’s start with a short conversationAn approach shaped around you
I draw on several established therapy approaches. We’ll discuss what may be useful for your concerns, explain the work in everyday language and adapt it as we learn what helps you.
Cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT) helps us examine the relationship between your thoughts, feelings and behaviours, and practice changes in everyday life.
Dialectical behaviour therapy (DBT) provides practical skills for working with strong emotions, getting through distress and communicating your needs.
Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on relating differently to difficult thoughts and feelings, while moving toward what matters to you.
When appropriate, I use exposure and response prevention (ERP): working with triggers while practising leaving compulsive responses undone.
In person, in Porters Lake
My office is a little cabin tucked into the woods in Porters Lake. With an electric woodstove and a cozy, relaxed atmosphere, it’s a comfortable place to settle in and talk.
Come as you are. Sessions are down to earth, with room for honest conversation, quiet moments and humour. You’ll see the same therapist in the same familiar space as we work together. Virtual and telephone sessions are available too.
For some clients, the drive out offers a little time to gather their thoughts, and the journey home gives them space to reflect before returning to their day.

Mike the cat occasionally graces clients with his presence while checking on the practice. He conducts his rounds outdoors and never comes into the office.
The exact address and directions are shared privately after booking. Access involves an uneven driveway along a lit route. Please contact me beforehand to discuss mobility or access needs.
Starting can be simple
Book a session when you’re ready, or start with a free 15-minute phone consultation to ask questions and see whether we’re a good fit.
We’ll complete intake and consent, talk through how sessions work, and begin getting to know what brings you in. There’s space to ask questions along the way.
We’ll begin discussing how I can help and what you’d like to work toward. Your needs guide the focus, the approach and our next steps.
